What materials are your blades and dies made from?
We manufacture blades and dies from a range of premium tool steels including D2, CPM IDV, CPM S390, M2, M42, and SS 420, selected based on application, polymer type, abrasiveness, and wear life requirements.
How do I select the right blade material for polymer pelletiser?
The correct blade material depends on the abrasiveness of the polymer, the presence of pigments or mineral fillers, machine speed, and environmental conditions. For standard polymers, D2 tool steel provides an excellent balance of wear resistance and toughness, while CPM grades are recommended for highly abrasive, pigment-rich, or glass-filled polymers. What hardness levels are recommended for pelletiser blades?
Hardness is carefully optimized to maximize blade life while preventing chipping. Granulator blades are typically supplied in the range of 56 to 60 HRC for D2, 58 to 63 HRC for CPM grades, and up to 68 to 70 HRC for high-performance PM high-speed steels. Fixed blades are usually hardened slightly higher than rotating blades to improve cutting efficiency and reduce wear.

Higher hardness is used for abrasive polymers, while slightly lower hardness is preferred where impact or thermal cycling is present.
